So I am starting my November tracking...thought I would start on the ebay. It was a great month!
Started off slow because I got married early this month...but it picked up fast.
Grossed: $4,752
Ebay fees $190
Paypal fees $82
Shipping fees $861 (yeah the post office made out like a bandit!)
Packing supplies $11
-----------------
$3608
All in all- Great month- better than I expected. Every little $5 item really adds up! Go clean out your parents/siblings/childrens attics!
I'm just a tad nervous because I started selling dishes towards the end of the month...the items are hitting buyers homes now...and I'm so scared of broken items! I packed everything as well as I could- but I'm a big worrywart. Big sighs of relief once the feedback starts coming in.
And that was the fun part. Adding up the INCOME. next is adding up the months spending- not so fun.
AND!! The armadillo is still under the house! He's not dead because he evades the traps and still digs up the yard at night!

I'll have to send you one of my dogs to get rid of the armadillo. Mine have killed 5 or 6 this year that were just passing thru. They didn't make it far!

Do you have a separate "work room" for your eBay business? Any tips for mailing... UPS or USPS?

Use as much natural light in the pictures as you can- the pictures just come out nicer.
Only list 3-4 items at a time in the beginning...when you have to ship out 10 items in one day you are more likely to make a mistake in confusing addresses, packing poorly, or forgetting something.
Use a web hosting site to download pics into the auction. Ebay charges $.15 per picture and buyers like LOTS of pictures. I include 5 pics of each item. A easy picture hosting site is: http://www.isdntek.com/tagbot/prettybordersplus.htm (copy and paste this listing into the ebay listing description.)
The longer and more graphic the description of the item the more money your item will generate.
realize that you will win some/lose some in shipping charges. some profits will be eaten up by a shipping price being higher than you guessed it would be.
Ship through post office for non breakable items...items so cheap you dont need insurance. UPS is cheaper than post office for items over 5lbs- and if you allow UPS to inspect the item/packing (bring them the open box)- then they always EASILY honor damage claims...post office is harder to go through damage claims.
NEVER start selling on ebay by listing high dollar items. That sets off warning bells to buyers that you might be a scammer. I learned that the hard way. LOL. Start off with low $$ items.
