Getting my $11.00

November 17th, 2008 at 02:47 pm

I have $11.00 in "cash back points" on my Discover card. The card has $0 balance and cash back points can only be deducted in multiples of twenty. I need to figure out a way to purchase an item- build my points up to 20 and then apply those to the card and pay it off. This way I can get the $11 I 'earned'.

But Discover is tricky- giving you double points on certain purchases and so forth.

I would need to be very careful one purchase at a time then going online to see the new points balance before making another purchase.

I don't want to get into a situation where I need to go through this all again because of an extra few dollars in points left on the card.

I cant believe this is one of the more prevalent topics on my mind right now. I need to get a life.

I have like $18.00 in points on my Discover. I am almost done paying it off and hate the idea of purchasing something with it but $18 is $18 and I want it!!!

I love it! I have become obsessed with finding change and running to deposit it at the bank. I fear the tellers think I have descended into madness because I will deposit as little as a dollar into savings!!

I get thrilled about getting a $50 check almost every month from my Chase reward card.

Ugh...you reminded me that I have a bit on a Discover card too. At some point I should figure out something to charge and then pay off so I can get it. I hate using credit cards!

I too have $ 11 (maybe $12) worth of "rewards" money on my Discover card. However, after the BS they pulled on me, I paid off the card and they can stick the $11 - $12 where the sun don't shine as far as I am concerned! :-/

Dont spend money just to get money. If you have to FIND something to buy; spending $300 to get $20 are you really making any money.

Just let the reward money sit there if possable and the next time you have to use a credit card use the card.

    Good Luck.

just buy groceries or fuel with it, and transfer the money over when you get home. that way you're not really spending any extra than you normally would

Same with my Discover, but I have only about 5 which is probably not worth it, but I still want to get my hands on it. I believe Discover changes their 3% categories every month or so, so if it's gas/groceries/utils one month you can build it up to bump it up to 20. That way you're not spending money to get money.
