About Me

29 yr old female trying to keep it together. I call my financial life a work in progress because though I have always had frugal inclinations I only recently started on an informal financial education with an end goal to make my money work for me! Of course I can be weak. Thai food, traveling, self-justification and laziness eat away at my savings. But I am getting there. I think. I used to be very jealous of the Jones' but now realize that they are broke and stressed so I prefer my own progress and accomplishments. My life may not be flashy but I have seen the consequences of a high-end lifestyle. I count myself lucky to be alive and aware in these economic times because I have learned so much and believe that in the long run I will come out farther ahead from a little suffering now. As long as I am not regressing, then I am pleased.

[ ]Save ALL eBay income in 2009
[X]Get a full time job
[X]Begin saving rental income for eventual rental renovation
[X]Buy a house with 20% down
[ ]Build a $4k Emergency Fund
[ ]Save 10k towards a back deck, backyard landscaping, and kitchen redo
[ ]Save $2k toward new car for hubby
[X] Pay $50 month extra on the mortgage

Long term goals *start by 2010*
[ ]Live on one income/bank the other income
[ ]Start an IRA for Baseball boy
[ ] have 1 NSD a week

I'm moving to Texas!

I'm moving to Texas! Baseball boy was traded this morning. He's on a road trip in Nebraska right now, so I gotta pack and move by myself.
He flys to TX in the morning, I am gonna leave in the morning, by car. No idea how long the drive from MN to TX is...but it should be BEAUTIFUL!

So- financially- this is a wash. His new team is in a playoff run, which means extended weeks of pay for him, and possible cash if they win the series- but me driving from MN to TX will be a couple hundred dollars that is not reimbursed since the team is paying to fly him.

But sometimes you cannot put a price on life experience, and this is one of those times. The drive will be stunning, and I have only been to Texas once. Now I get to LIVE THERE! Whoohooo!

Welcome to Texas! It's probably a little warmer here than you're used to (100+ degree days for weeks here in Dallas), but it's a great place to live.

Grand Prarie isn't too far from where I live. This is a good part of Texas - we've been having a good bit of 100 degree days here lately, but supposedly a "cold front" is coming in the next few days that might get us in the low 90's. LOL

Enjoy Texas - it took me two days to drive through west to east. Dallas seems to be on the border between west Texas desert and east Texas lush.
