Not a single thing to do with money

August 12th, 2008 at 01:15 am

Well first of all, I must say that I do love my new blog colors. I smile everytime I open up the page. Smile

Last night’s blog entry was kind of heavy. I was in a weird mood. Probably from watching too much TLC.

But last night got me thinking about other weird idiosyncrasies I have. I do plenty of odd uniteresting things, but one of my more annoying fears (for Baseball boy at any rate) is that after watching "Law and Order", the news, or a lot of "Lifetime" on TV, I become paranoid that Baseball boy is going to kill me.

LOL. I have learned to avoid those types of shows because it takes a good ten minutes for Baseball boy to reassure me that if he ever wants to leave me, he understands that he can just walk out the door, he does not need to plot my death. And even if there were large sums of money involved, all he does is have to tell me he was thinking of killing me for the money and I would just give it to him.

His obligatory "I love you, I'm not leaving you" falls on deaf ears. He does not understand I am not concerned about the LEAVING part; it's the KILLING that has me worried.

LOL. It sounds dramatic but I have heard that it is somewhat of a common fear. I blame Scott Peterson and all the drama he caused.

So, that’s it. I am still tracking my expenses and doing well.

We are all plagued with irrational fears of some sort. For example, I was on the highway today (not my most favorite thing) and I cannot drive behind any truck carrying anything on a flatbed because I am afraid that it will fall off and crash into my car killing me and my children. I also cannot drive with a can of gasoline in the car for fear it will ignite. I also hate bridges, driving over them or walking over them, for fear it will collapse. So, while I am not afraid the my DH will kill me (as in your case) I can relate to the irrational part!

LOL...up here in MN no one has an 'irrational' fear of bridges collapsing- last year one of the bridges DID collapse! But yeah- I love hearing about crazy fears..it makes me chuckle.

LOL. I love those shows. I highly doubt my spouse would turn to that but I often tell him, "You know, murder is not the answer. Just remember that." I think it's just so amazing to me how many people do think murder is the answer.

    momsense,

I have that same fear sometimes driving behind those trucks with the pipes! Even just driving beside them. Not always, but if my mind isn't occupied by other things, my imagination will sometimes carry me to scary places involving those pipes and possibly loose ropes!

I have the same fear of driving behind trucks, mainly because about 1 1/2 years ago I got a big ole mudflap through my windshield while going 65 on the interstate. Luckily no one was in the passenger seat (they would have been seriously injured) and no one was hurt, but it could have been really bad. I just had to get a ride home, a new windshield, detailing of the car and a new infant car seat (required & paid for by my car insurance when in any kind of accident). So it's not a silly fear, just stay a safe distance away or go around them as quickly as possibly like I do.

This is intresting. It seems that many of these 'irrational' fears are founded on truth!

I have an irrational fear of snakes. My whole family knows this. One time my sister put a fake snake on my bed. I knew it was a fake snake, but I couldn't even pick it up with my hands to move it. I had to get two sticks and pick it up that way. And then I threw their "pet" snake away.

DH knows if he wants to keep me out of somewhere (garage, old barn, shed, etc) he'll just say "I think there may be a snake there" even if he hadn't seen one.

I have a million irrational fears. They pop into my head constantly while trying to fall asleep at night. Generally they are all associated with losing my son. This spring, there was a story on CNN about a boy who died a "dry drowning." Normal day at the pool, but he swallowed too much water which went to his lungs. He got home, stated he was tired and needed to sleep and died. Now I freak out when we're at anything with water. "Keep your mouth closed!" I hear myself saying every five seconds. The amount of things to fear is endless.

I hate when I am at a stop light and a semi truck turns the corner right next to me. I have a fear that the back part will turn over and crush my car. That happened to a boss I had and he was killed.

My fear is that one of my partners will wait until they've had enough and then leave me with no warning. I had a boyfriend and a best friend do this to me, one in college and one just out of college, and they were the two nonfamily people I trusted the most. So I'm periodically asking NT or AS to tell me if they're mad, tell me if anything bothers them, don't let it build up, etc.

My family watches tons of those true-crime shows, but although it makes me question outside people's motives, it doesn't affect my relationships. I know my family doesn't have it in us to be violent or cruel. AS did used to stay awake listening for intruders because of the serial-killer shows, but it seemed to be part of her general anxiety because once she was prescribed medication, that pretty much went away.

I get a little nervous behind flatbed trucks too. Wasn't that in a movie? Also hate spiders, and I think it got worse when there was one in my bedroom big enough for me to see without my contacts. About the time I bent down and figured out what it was, it scuttled underneath the bed. YUCK. I sat in BF's lap the rest of the night, and put a perimeter of glue-pads around my bed. Never caught that sucker.

BF has a strange fear of sharks... even if we are in my family's swimming pool, he kind of stresses out if there is a fake shark in there.
