About Me:

34 yr old female trying to keep it together. I call my financial life a work in progress because though I have always had frugal inclinations I only recently started on an informal financial education with an end goal to make my money work for me! Of course I can be weak. Thai food, traveling, self-justification and laziness eat away at my savings. But I am getting there. I think. I used to be very jealous of the Jones' but now realize that they are broke and stressed so I prefer my own progress and accomplishments. My life may not be flashy but I have seen the consequences of a high-end lifestyle. I count myself lucky to be alive and aware in these economic times because I have learned so much and believe that in the long run I will come out farther ahead from a little suffering now. As long as I am not regressing, then I am pleased.

Well it's June 14th and I have not used the air conditioning!

We had a no heat contest in the fall that had quite a few contestants well into winter- anyone want to step up to the "no air conditioning" plate?

I thought of turning mine on today but decided to suffer through- reminding me to see how everyone else is doing.

I have not used mine much. However, the computer and treadmill are upstairs in the hottest room in the house, so I do run that in the afternoon.
I live in the North part of your state, Georgia. It is Blairsville and in the mountains, so it is nice at night.

We live in southeastern Mass. We haven't even installed our AC yet! Been nice and cool with just the fans. So, count me in!

I wish I could join this challange but I think a few weeks ago I turned it on overnight for about 6 hours, when DS was sick with a fever. It is 78 in the basement right now, and I do not have the heat or air on. Once DH comes home for a few weeks in July he will without a doubt turn it on within seconds of walking in the door.

I love not running the heat/air for the cost savings.

BUT I have an unfair advantage. I don't even have an air conditioner in my home. So far i haven't even used a fan though.

I can't be in either. It's been off for a few days, but I have already used it. With DD's allergies, windows often have to be closed. Then it heats up in the house...so the a/c has already been on.

Hat's off to all of you who can keep your a/c off!

I was also out weeks ago - did well on the winter challenge because it was very mild/late winter. Flip side is 100-degree weather hit in early May (early summer - ouch!)

Shoot, we used ours last night, and one other night in May. We could've done without but wanted that little bit of extra comfort. However, we like the fresh air and are going to try and only use it sporadically (until the superhot middle of July, probably).

We don't get high temps for very long in MN, but on the 18th floor we get pounded with sunlight, so when it's hot, it's hot!
