29 yr old female trying to keep it together. I call my financial life a work in progress because though I have always had frugal inclinations I only recently started on an informal financial education with an end goal to make my money work for me! Of course I can be weak. Thai food, traveling, self-justification and laziness eat away at my savings. But I am getting there. I think. I used to be very jealous of the Jones' but now realize that they are broke and stressed so I prefer my own progress and accomplishments. My life may not be flashy but I have seen the consequences of a high-end lifestyle. I count myself lucky to be alive and aware in these economic times because I have learned so much and believe that in the long run I will come out farther ahead from a little suffering now. As long as I am not regressing, then I am pleased.

[ ]Save $2k toward new car for hubby
[X] Pay $50 month extra on the mortgage

Long term goals *start by 2010*

In a continued effort to clean out the house to prepare for an eventual move when we buy a house...I listed a bunch of broken electronics on eBay today.

Several Sony cameras if anyone needs a broken camera. I don't know who would...but they are on ebay if you want em!

Funny how things just accumulate because an item breaks and it gets stored away instead of being thrown away when it is replaced.

I have a bunch of old cell phones I need to rehome now....

I sold old cell phones online for cash awhile back. I can't remember the website. I think I wrote about it in the forums. I did get the check they promised and they paid the shipping!

Yes, I tried that after your posting and it worked. One phone I didn't get paid for but two of them I did. The other one was pretty dinged up so I was just glad they took it off my hands.

You're on a roll! I always doante my old cell phone to women's shelters. They can still be used to dial 911 without a plan or contract, and some places around here have deals with the shelters to fix broken ones for free to give to women and families in need.

I drop mine off at one of the "cell phone for soldiers" collection boxes. As long as someone can use it, I don't care.

I'm not sure which site I sold to, but phoneiscash dot com looks promising. I would Google cash for cell phone and try several of the sites to see who has the best deal. Some of them are approved by the Better Business Bureau...so that is one thing to look for, too! They may even take old gaming equipment. Wow!
