About Me:

34 yr old female trying to keep it together. I call my financial life a work in progress because though I have always had frugal inclinations I only recently started on an informal financial education with an end goal to make my money work for me! Of course I can be weak. Thai food, traveling, self-justification and laziness eat away at my savings. But I am getting there. I think. I used to be very jealous of the Jones' but now realize that they are broke and stressed so I prefer my own progress and accomplishments. My life may not be flashy but I have seen the consequences of a high-end lifestyle. I count myself lucky to be alive and aware in these economic times because I have learned so much and believe that in the long run I will come out farther ahead from a little suffering now. As long as I am not regressing, then I am pleased.

applied for jobs-finally!

I spent the morning on monster.com applying for jobs I am way overqualified for. I worry that no one will call me in for any interviews.

Since Baseball boy and I generally have no clue whats going on in our life a month in advance, I applied for part time work, or easy, call center type jobs that already have a high turnover.

I dont want to commit to a complicated 'career' job that will take priority over everything else in life.

I want to have 3 days off in November for my wedding, and get 2 days off in December for 2 out of state weddings I am attending...complicated 'career' jobs dont usually give vacation days until you have been there several months. But easy part time jobs tend to be flexible.

I really hope I get some calls!

BTW- living in the suburbs sucks during high gas times. I can't apply to any city jobs because it's almost an hour away...but local jobs are very few right now.

Oh sister I know about your situation. I'm about to jump on the job hunt wagon after my wedding in two weeks. Have you tried craigslist? They have a pretty big jobs section, at least in my city.

I've always had luck with CareerBuilder as well. Or I would just go to the website of a large employer near me (Walmart, Target, etc) and apply online. Another one I've heard of since I moved here (for hourly pay) is SnagAJob.com. Good luck!
